By Aaron Humes: In a nailbiter decision, delegates elected Moses “Shyne” Barrow over Tracey Taegar-Panton by three votes, 256 to 253.
Early reports were widely conflicted and prompted Taegar-Panton’s supporters to erupt in brief celebration, only to have their hopes dashed.
Party Chairman Michael Peyrefitte said neither side had any complaints about the conduct of the vote and that the result should be treated as final.
Before going into the convention center, Taegar-Panton told reporters that no matter the result, “the people had spoken.”
And Barrow concurred, saying he was already starting the process of mending fences after the party’s fourth convention in just over two years.
We’ll have much more to come.
