By Benjamin Flowers: Albert Division Area representative Tracy Taegar Panton is convinced that she will emerge from today’s convention as the next leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Taegar-Panton said that she embodies the change that the UDP needs to prepare for the 2025 general elections and that unification will be her first priority “when” she becomes the leader.
“I will be successful today and the plan really is to meet with all 31 of my colleagues and their executive committees so we can find a way forward. The party has been divided for too long,” Taegar-Panton said.
She added that she feels her late husband Herbert Panton would have wanted her to continue her bid for leadership, so she did so with a feeling that his support rests with her.
