Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley sends a special shoutout to women officers of the Belize Police Department

By Benjamin Flowers: Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley sent a special message of thanks and encouragement to the women officers of the Belize Police Department to highlight Women’s Month.

Mottley, who was recently in Belize for the 33rd Intercessional Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government which was held in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, sent a prerecorded message saluting female officers who she notes are in a profession that is still globally dominated by men.

“Do not give up,” Mottley said. “Represent your cause, defend your honor, and continue to execute your duties with the professionalism and the dignity that will lighten the load for those who follow you into this profession.”

Mottley went on to personally thank Sergeant Lisa Jones, who worked closely with her personal protection officer while she was in Belize for the conference, calling her conduct exemplary.

She closed by encouraging all women police officers to rest and refresh themselves as the battle for the advancement of women regionally and globally is an ongoing one.
