Man remanded to prison over revenge porn picture posted to social media

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man accused of posting a sexually explicit photo of a woman on social media has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Daron Gentle, 32, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, answering to a single charge of sexual assault.

According to the victim, Gentle came into her home while she was sleeping after becoming intoxicated, pulled out his penis and put it on her face then took a picture of it and posted it online.

In court, Gentle pleaded not guilty to sexual assault but told the Magistrate that he posted the picture of the victim online because they were in a relationship and he found out that she was being unfaithful.

The court denied Gentle bail and sent him to jail until his next court appearance, scheduled for May 30.

The prosecution noted that cybercrime charges are pending against Gentle, but the investigation that will lead to those charges is still ongoing.
