Police investigate alleged kidnapping in Orange Walk

By BBN Staff: An Orange Walk man reported to police that he was kidnapped by a group of men, and the Belize Police Department has started an investigation into the matter.

Head of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood, said today that the victim alleged the group of men drove up to him in a yellow Ford Escape and abducted him.

The alleged victim then reported to police that he somehow managed to escape from his captors, and make it to a police station in Orange Walk where he made his official report.

“We are trying to make sure that this is an authentic report before we put out any other details,” Yearwood said, “It is very strange that a yellow Ford Escape, that would be very rare in Belize and that the occupants of the vehicle would be daring enough to kidnap someone and allow that person to escape from them,” Yearwood said.

He added that police are currently seeking two suspects in connection with the incident.
