By BBN Staff: A Belize City man was arraigned in court today after threatening another man that he’d chop him with a machete.
Forty-six-year-old Ronell Bonelle, appeared unrepresented in court where he answered to a single charge of common assault upon Patrick Swasey, 28.
The allegation against him is that he approached Swasey who was coming out of a yard on Lancaster Street on Sunday, March 27, and pulled out a machete.
Swasey told police that Bonelle told him, “Best yuh nuh come back around here or I will chop you up.”
In court, Bonelle pleaded guilty and pleaded with the court to impose a fine instead of prison time.
He was fined $1,000 plus $5.00 cost of court which he has until June 30, 2022, to pay or in default 5 months imprisonment.
