By Benjamin Flowers: Following a razor thing convention result that saw Moses Shyne Barrow narrowly edge out Tracy Taeger-Panton for leadership of the United Democratic Party (UDP) by only three votes, the two have met to discuss the way forward for their party.

Shyne took to his Facebook page this afternoon to announce that he had a “great meeting” with Taegar-Panton, who he gave the title “UDP Chief Whip.”

Barrow said that their discussions were centered on rebuilding and unifying the UDP.

“As we prepare for Village Councils, Municipal Elections, and the General Elections Hon. Panton will continue to play a senior integral Leadership role moving forward together,” Barrow said.

He stressed that the aim is to get the party in shape for the next general election with the overall goal of forming the next government of Belize.

At the National Leadership Convention held on Sunday, March 27, Barrow secured 256 votes while Taegar-Panton managed to secure 253 votes.

Both candidates prior to the results committed to working with the other despite the results for the betterment of the party.
