FIFA holds World Cup Draw on Friday, April 1

Though not all countries have qualified yet, FIFA is holding the Qatar 2022 World Cup Draw on Friday, April 1 at 10:00 am Belize time.

So far 29 of the 32 countries have qualified to the World Cup which will be held from November 21 to December 18, 2022,

The draw will place the 32 nations in eight groups of four. Two of the remaining three spots will be filled by the winners of the Intercontinental Play-offs on June 13 or 14. Peru will play against the winner of the encounter between the United Arab Emirates and Australia while Costa Rica will match up against New Zealand.

The final berth holder will emerge from the winner of Wales and Scotland or Ukraine. The Scotland-Ukraine match was postponed from March 24 to June due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. FIFA has not yet announced the date for the qualifier.

The 32 countries have been divided in four pots according to the FIFA ranking. The draw will determine the eight groups.

FIFA said the will be attended by 2,000 guests and will be led by Carli Lloyd, Jermaine Jenas and Samantha Johnson. They will be assisted by Cafu (Brazil), Lothar Matthaus (Germany), Adel Ahmed MalAllah (Qatar), Ali Daei (IR Iran), Bora Milutinovic (Serbia/Mexico), Jay-Jay Okocha (Nigeria), Rabah Madjer (Algeria) and Tim Cahill (Australia).
