By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize is reporting that 50.7 percent of the population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccination shot, and there are still over 240,000 doses still available.

During its weekly Cabinet briefing, GOB said that as of March 29, a total of 217,428 Belizeans had received at least one shot, and 209,379 or (48.6 percent ) have been fully vaccinated.

However, there are still 243,000 vaccines on hand and Belizeans are being urged to take advantage of the availability of those shots.

“Of the population aged 12 to 17 years, 25,968 have received two doses of the vaccines. To date, 43,190 booster shots have been issued,” Cabinet said.

Cabinet also said that the daily positivity rate is 1.38 percent, which is an indicator that the country “is moving in the right direction.”
