By BBN Staff: A Belize City man is spending the second night of a three-month prison term for stealing a woman’s bicycle.
Jerry Paul Garbutt, 46, was charged with a single count of theft when he was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
He was accused of stealing the bicycle from in front of a business on Central American Boulevard. It was valued at $240.
In court, he pleaded guilty but because he had six previous convictions for crimes of dishonesty, he was sentenced to three months in jail.
He was also ordered to pay the victim compensation in the value of the stolen bicycle.
