Micah Goodin, from City Councilor to Deputy Mayor

By Benjamin Flowers: Micah Goodin, activist, entrepreneur, and Belize City Councilor has added another title to his list, Deputy Mayor.

The Belize City Council announced this week that Goodin has been chosen to serve as Deputy Mayor to serve for the period 2022-2023.

Goodin was elected on the 2018 municipal slate with Mayor Bernard Wagner and initially served as the councilor responsible for Sanitation & Maintenance and was later moved to E-Governance and Community Engagement.

Goodin made a name for himself as a councilor by starting a scholarship fund in his name, hosting community sports activities and tournaments, and made headlines when he played an instrumental role in assisting a city resident to receive a house.

Following the announcement of his appointment, Goodin took to social media and said, “With great power comes even greater responsibilities. It is an absolute pleasure, Belize City. I pledge to serve with humility.”
