Streets in Caye Caulker getting much-needed repairs

Posted: Friday, April 1, 2022. 6:49 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Residents in Caye Caulker are seeing some much-needed upgrades to the streets through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH).

The Ministry, responding to a request from the Caye Caulker Village Council has deployed teams and equipment to the island to have streets graded and repaired.

“The Caye Caulker Village Council asked for assistance from the MIDH, and we always answer the call, no matter how large or small the job and no matter the logistical challenges. When we said we’re here to work, we meant it,” the MIDH said.

The Ministry also noted that these are the first repairs streets on the island have seen in recent memory.

The works are a part of an ongoing push by the MIDH to improve road quality countrywide, with recent works completed in the Toledo district and ongoing works in Corozal and Orange Walk.
