National Amateur Women’s League takes a three-week break

Posted: Saturday, April 2, 2022. 3:36 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias:

No games were scheduled in the National Amateur Women’s League for this weekend because of the Belize Women’s National Team’s (BWNT) international commitments.

In effect, no games will be played for three weekends in a row because of the BWNT matches plus no games were scheduled for the Easter weekend.

The BWNT went into camp on Thursday, March 31, in preparation for their two matches in the Concacaf Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

The BWNT face Aruba at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Wednesday, April 6. Then, the BWNT fly out to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to play against Barbados on Tuesday, April 12.

The BWNT lost the first two matches in the World Cup Qualifiers 0-6 to El Salvador and 0-8 to Panama, so they can no longer qualify to the next round. However, they are intent on finishing off the qualifiers with better games against the two Caribbean sides.

The NAWL will resume on Saturday, April 23.
