National champions Verdes FC can seal the FFB Top League championship on Sunday against Caesar Ridge at the MCC Grounds in Belize City.

“Belize City football fans, come out Sunday and support your city team vs The Green Machine of the west,” posted Verdes on social media.

“Come see fine football and some of Belize’s top football talents along with our international players. It will be exciting football at the Barracks!”

A victory for Verdes propels them to 24 points clinching the FFB Top League Closing Championship.

As things stand, Verdes could visit the MCC as champions should Altitude beat the San Pedro Pirates tonight Saturday. With their 21 points and two games remaining after this weekend, Verdes would have clinched as San Pedro Pirates and Altitude would both have 14 points. The seven points difference would be unreachable as the Pirates and Altitude can only gain six points more should they win their final two games.

But for Caesar Ridge it doesn’t matter if Verdes travel to Belize City to clinch or as champs. The Belize City side are in the last spot and not even a win will get them out of that. At least not this weekend. But as a matter of pride, they are aiming to close the championship, in which they have only one point in seven games, with at least one win. They have three games left to redeem themselves starting on Sunday at 4:00 pm.
