Miss Universe Belize returns

By Aaron Humes: The official Miss Universe Belize Organization has announced a casting call for the Jewel’s next “ambassador of beauty.”

Prospective contestants are asked to email [email protected] with a short description of themselves and why they would be a good contestant, along with a photograph and personal particulars (name, age and district).

Deadline to enter is April 18. No date has been announced for the pageant but it is traditionally done in September.

Belize has separate organizations for each of the four major international pageants and skipped last year’s Miss Universe. However, Destiny Wagner’s breaking Belize’s duck with her Miss Earth win has put the pageantry world on notice and it is hoped Iris Salguero’s successor can break the string of non-placements dating back to Sarita Acosta’s top 12 finish in 1979.
