Man caught with stolen butane tank still pleads not guilty in court

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man, reportedly caught with a stolen gas tank, is out on bail after pleading not guilty to a charge of handling stolen goods.

Thirty-eight-year-old Eugene Lanza was allegedly found in possession of a butane tank valued at $80. Reports are that he went to the victim’s home and stole the tank on the night of April 1, and was seen doing so.

The victim then reported the matter to police and Lanza was arrested on April 2.

In court, he pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail in the sum of $500 plus one surety of the same.

Lanza is due back in court on June 6.
