Man charged with assaulting a woman reported to police that another woman slashed his tires while he was detained

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man charged with assaulting a woman, filed a police report against a separate woman who he claims slashed his tires while he was detained at the Queen Street Police Station.

Thirty-seven-year-old Alrick Smith was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where the complainant told the court she did not wish to press any further charges.

When asked if she was threatened or coerced, the complainant said that she was withdrawing the charges of her own free will.

When Smith was being released from the police station, he said he saw a woman running away from his vehicle, and noticed that one of his tires was damaged.

He alerted officers on the compound who eventually caught the woman, identified as Sherima Tillett. Tillett was taken to the station and charged for damage to property.
