Aruba to play Women’s World Cup qualifier against Panama in Belmopan on Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Aruba Women’s National Football Team will be playing their Women’s World Cup qualifier against Panama in Belmopan on Saturday.

“Because of all the restrictions and unavailability of flights in this region, Aruba will play their home match against Panama in Belize,” said Football Federation of Belize Executive Member Marlon Kuylen.

“Since they are already here and they can’t get back to Aruba in time to play Panama so they opted to play in Belize instead.”

Aruba are playing against Belize today Wednesday at 4:00 pm at the FFB Field.

Several countries are playing their home games away from home. In Group D, Aruba and Barbados are playing their home games away from home. In the first round both played their home games in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic where Aruba lost to El Salvador 7-1 on February 19 while Barbados beat Aruba 3-1.

Belize also played its first home game in El Salvador against Panama on February 20.

Aruba’s game on Saturday against Panama will be played at 4:00 pm at the FFB Stadium behind closed doors.
