BREAKING: Colorful former Government Minister Melvin Hulse Jr dies

By Aaron Humes: United Democratic Party vice Chairman Alberto August has confirmed the passing of former Government Minister Melvin Hulse Jr this morning.

Hulse, 74, was terminally ill with stage 4 colon cancer.

He was three times area representative for the Stann Creek West constituency and became well known for an uncompromising, no-nonsense tone marked by enduring turns of phrases such as “madafish”.

He was philosophical in his last public interview with Channel 7 News’ Jules Vasquez in January, saying he had no qualms about dying but didn’t mind staying around for his family.

He has planned funeral arrangements which will be announced in due course.

We at Breaking Belize News extend condolences to his family, both nuclear and within the United Democratic Party (UDP) which has now lost three key personalities in a span of months after the deaths of Sir Manuel Esquivel and Herbert Panton.
