By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health and Wellness reports that 14 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported countrywide on Wednesday.

In addition to the 18 recoveries also reported, the Epidemiology Unit has identified and removed 62 duplicate cases after conducting a thorough review of COVID19 cases and deaths.

Additionally, four deaths confirmed between January of 2021 and February 13, 2022, have been added to the tally.

The net result is 57,270 total cases; 56,408 recoveries or 98.5 percent; 660 deaths; and 53 samples under investigation.

There are 156 active cases countrywide and one person is still hospitalized.

The new cases were reported in Belize City (seven); Ladyville and Punta Gorda (two each); and San Roman, Corozal District, Benque Viejo, and Roaring Creek, Cayo District (one each).

The Ministry reminds, “The most effective way to stop new COVID-19 variants is by limiting the spread. We encourage persons 12 years and older to get vaccinated as soon as they can. If you are eligible to take a booster shot, please do so as well. Regardless of the variant, the same health measures protect us from getting COVID19.”
