Posted: Thursday, April 7, 2022. 9:24 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health and Wellness has begun an exercise to review all COVID-19 cases and deaths.

As a result, four more deaths from the virus were added to the national total, reported on December 9 and 19, 2021 and February 3 and 24, 2022, respectively. The Ministry said it anticipates more deaths to be reported, although none have been so far for the month of April.

Turning to more recent figures, 11 new confirmed cases of the virus were reported today, Thursday, against 21 new recoveries. The new cases were diagnosed in Belize City (three); San Pedro Town (three); Corozal Town (two); and one case each in Santa Clara, Corozal, San Carlos, Orange Walk; and Placencia, Stann Creek District.

Belize now has 138 active cases and 52 samples under investigation.

For the first time in months, no individuals are actively hospitalized with the virus.

Belize now has 57,281 total cases with 664 deaths and 56,429 persons recovered.
