Three-time Champion Kaya Cattouse will not be riding the 31st Women’s Cross Country Classic due to professional commitments with her US team LA Sweat.
“As the defending champion, not being home for this one sucks!” Cattouse posted on social media.
“BUT in my cycling career I’ve ridden this race 9 times, 8 of the 9 times in the top 3 and of course I’ve had the privilege of climbing onto the top step of the podium THREE TIMES – 2012, 2016, 2019. While this race has become a staple in Belizean cycling, it’s not a priority on my 2022 cycling calendar.”
“LA Sweat Team Camp here I come!” Cattouse closed her post.
In December 2021, Cattouse became the first Belizean woman cyclist to sign for a professional team and now she has to respond to their call as she assumes her dream which is now a reality.
