Ministry of Agriculture hands over Biosafety kits to Ministry of Education for 26 primary schools countrywide

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: On Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) handed over biosafety kits to the Ministry of Education and Wellness for 26 primary schools countrywide.

MAFSE said the bio-safety kits include washbasins, dispensers, and hand sanitizers. The donation with a total value of BZ$27,058.00 was funded by the Mesoamérica Sin Hambre (Mesoamerica Hunger-Free) Program.

Mesoamérica Sin Hambre is a joint initiative of the Government of Mexico and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The Government of Mexico helps finance the Mesoamérica Sin Hambre program through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID).

Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise Jose Abelardo Mai handed over the biosafety kits to Ministry of Education Chief Executive Officer Dian Maheia at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Primary School in August Pine Ridge in the Orange Walk District.

The MOHW is now distributing the kits to 26 schools throughout the country. A number of principals of recipient primary schools from the Orange Walk District were present at the handing over ceremony.

Mesoamérica Sin Hambre “works in coordination with institutions in Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, to provide them with innovative development solutions,” said MAFSE.
