Altitude powered a 3-0 win over Wagiya on Saturday night at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence in the Battle of The South and practically secured the FFB Top League sub-championship.

Marvin Tzalam and Colombian Miguel García scored in the first half and another Colombian, Andrés Orozco hit the third as the game expired.

The Placencia side now has 17 points, three more than their closest competitor for second place, the San Pedro Pirates. With a five-goal advantage over the San Pedro Pirates, Altitude are poised to retain their subchampionship in the FFB Top League Closing Championship. Even if Altitude should lose to Verdes in their last match on Saturday, April 23, at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence, San Pedro would have to beat Garden City that same evening by several goals to unseat Altitude. A draw against Verdes would secure the second-place finish for Altitude.

But if you know Altitude, they are going for the win against the champs.

Wagiya, for their part, lost a good opportunity to close the gap that Garden City have over them and will now be playing against Caesar Ridge in the battle to avoid last place when they meet on Sunday, April 24 at the MCC Grounds in Belize City.
