Police confirm that Asian businessman Yichao Li died from drowning

By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department has confirmed that Corozal businessman 64-year-old Yichao Li, who was found dead on the morning of Friday, April 8, died from drowning.

Police released Li’s post mortem results today, which listed his cause of death as “Asphyxia due to Inhalation of Fluids as a consequence of Drowning.”

Li was found, fully dressed, face down in the water near the shore in Corozal Town. His body, which had no signs of injuries on it, was later identified by his son.

While police have established that he was alive when he hit the water, officers are still trying to ascertain how he got there.
