Police issue photo of the man charged for the murder of Mark Lord

By BBN Staff: The Belize Police Department has issued a photo of the man charged with the murder of 39-year-old Mark Lord.

Police say they formally arrested and charged 21-year-old Darbin Joel Romero for the crime of murder earlier today.

Lord was one of two people gunned down on the night of Saturday, April 9.

He was walking on Jones Street when a man came up to him and fired several shots killing him on the spot.

In the aftermath of Lord’s death, and the death of the second murder victim on Saturday, John King, the Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries Kareem Musa said that something needs to be done about the hatred young men have for each other, and called for Belize to return to community values that have eroded over the past few decades.
