COVID update: Rise in hospitalizations reported

By Aaron Humes: Four persons are presently hospitalized with COVID-19 with two in the intensive care unit, a rise from one and none over the weekend. As recently as last week there was no one hospitalized with the virus countrywide.

One of the hospitalized is unvaccinated; two are partially vaccinated and the fourth is fully vaccinated. Of these, one partially unvaccinated person and one fully vaccinated person are in intensive care.

Thirteen new cases were reported today while 15 persons are reported recovered. Active case numbers now stand at 126 with 135 samples under investigation.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the national figure at 672.

Seven of the new cases were reported in Belize City and two in Ladyville, Belize District. The others, from north to south, were reported in San Pedro Town, Belmopan, San Ignacio, and Big Falls, Toledo District, respectively.
