Teenager shot, critical in hospital; family asking for blood donations

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating the latest incident of shooting in Mahogany Heights, Belize District, which has left a teenage boy in critical condition in hospital.

According to a police report, 15-year-old Trayson Gibson was seated on a sofa inside his residence when a man walked in through the back door and opened fire on him.

Gibson was hit in the stomach area. He was taken to Western Regional Hospital, Belmopan, where he remains in critical condition.

We are informed this morning that his family is urgently requesting blood donations for the teenager of A-negative or O-negative type. Kindly contact the family at 663-4154 if you can assist.

Gibson is the third individual from the La Democracia/Mahogany Heights area to be shot in the last few days, following Carlton Gladden on Friday and Tyreek August on Thursday, while another person was threatened with a firearm. There is a reported feud between residents of the neighbouring villages.
