Contempt of court charge against Meighan brothers, Tyrone and Ellis, withdrawn

By BBN Staff: Tyrone and Ellis Meighan, brothers jointly charged with gang affiliation appeared in court this week for one of two appearances to learn that a charge of contempt of court that was against them had been withdrawn.

The brothers appeared in court on Wednesday to find that the prosecution had withdrawn the contempt of court order, after alleging that the men were not signing in at the Mahogany Street Police Station as a part of the conditions set for their bail.

The court is also to consider a submission to revoke their bail on other allegations that were set to be heard today.

The brothers are among those charged back in August 2021, for making a video for the purpose of gang activity and professing to be a member of a gang.

The men had absconded to Mexico, in an attempt to head to the United States, but were apprehended by Mexican immigration personnel and sent back to Belize.
