By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) is holding the Men’s Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic in memory of Edison “Vintage” Usher and Kadeem Nelson Banks who died last Sunday after an accident on the George Price Highway as they were heading to San Ignacio to live stream the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic.
Cyclists will be wearing a black bow with the names of Edison and Kadeem on them during the race. Additionally, a cash prize of $2,500 will be awarded to “a Belizean cyclist (if they win” in memory of Eddison “Vintage” Usher from Teams G-Flow, 501 Valvoline and C-Town & the Belize Education Empowerment Foundation, AAA Loans,” said the federation.
Both Usher and Banks were very much involved in cycling over several years.
Usher not only did live streaming of cycling events, he also organized races, particularly for the Weekend Warriors Cycling Club. He was also a cyclist and lately rode in the Masters Category both locally and internationally.
Guatemala’s Master’s Association, (Asomaster) sent condolences which the organization posted on Usher’s Facebook page.
Banks was laid to rest at Lord Ridge Cemetery in Belize City on Wednesday afternoon after funeral services at St Ignatius Church.
