By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Anguillian Hasani Hennis wins Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic over Skyline’s American John DeLong who did all the work over the last five miles of the 2022 Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic which saw the gap close to just under five minutes.

Hennis clocked 5 hours 50 minutes and 26 (5:50:26) for the 142 miles. That’s 10 minutes and 14 seconds short of the record of 5:40:12 set in 2008 by American Ryan Baumann.

The Anguillian rider laid back behind DeLong and attacked at the end for the final sprint-winning by over four bicycle lengths over DeLong whose best finish had been third place in his first Cross Country in 2010.

Westrac Alliance’s Byron Pope took third place and FAL’s Marlon Castillo claimed fourth a few seconds later. Both were upfront for 120 miles since Rockville on the way to Cayo after just 20 miles on the road along with Hennis and DeLong

The four cyclists chasing could not break the gap with Guatemalan Julio Padilla finishing fifth ahead of 501 Valvoline’s Oscar Quiroz taking sixth and G-Flow’s Giovanni Lovell in seventh.

Joslyn Chavarria Junior finished eighth, Nashen Ysaguirre was ninth, and Richard Santiago tenth.

Derrick Chavarria 11th and Goran Gabourel 12th, and Brandon Cattouse 13th.
