School security guard murdered on compound in Armenia, Cayo

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating an apparent murder on the compound of Armenia Government Primary School sometime between Thursday night and early Good Friday morning.

According to police, 33-year-old Oscar Sotero Chiac left his home at 5:00 pm on Thursday to his job as a security guard for the school, working a seven-hour shift.

His wife says she last heard from him just before 2:00 a.m. Good Friday morning and his body was discovered later in the morning at half-past nine by the school’s principal who was making checks at the compound.

Chiac had suffered stab wounds to the chest, neck, and right side of the head and his body awaits a post-mortem examination at the Western Regional Hospital, Belmopan.

Police have collected material evidence and continue their investigations.
