Belize City home destroyed by fire

By BBN Staff: A house in Belize City was completely destroyed by fire yesterday.

Police say that the homeowner, 41-year-old Stanley Bernardez, called the authorities just after 3:00 p.m. to report a fire at his residence on Laura Dunn Street in the Antelope extension area.

The wooden home, measuring 15 ft x 20 feet, was completely engulfed in flames, and personnel from the Belize National Fire Service (BNFS) began extinguishing it shortly after their arrival. No one was in the house at the time.

Neither the house nor its contents were insured and the total value of the damage is still being calculated.

Authorities are investigating.
