Cop still unconscious after bar confrontation in Placencia

By Aaron Humes: Police are treating Michael Francis’ run-in with a Sergeant of Police on Holy Saturday, overnight into Easter, as a case of assault of a police officer who remains in grave condition, in and out of consciousness.

Responding to public claims by Francis, from Majestic Alley and the leader of the Hands and Hearts Hub funded by the US Embassy, that the officer aggressed him and shot pepper spray into his eyes and that he struck back without clearly seeing what he was doing, Communications Director for the Police Department ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, said Francis would be given due process and his claims investigated by the Department, which awaits the officer’s recovery and ability to give a statement.

ASP Yearwood added that the premature and occasionally visceral commentary by fellow officers will not be tolerated and evidence has been forwarded to Professional Standards Branch for further investigation and discipline.
