Notwithstanding the international U19 Uncaf Central American Championship being played in Belmopan, the FFB Top League returns after the Easter Break to finish the Closing Championship this weekend.
Altitude host National Champions Verdes on Saturday at 7:30 at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium. Altitude are going to try to stop Verdes from finishing with a perfect 10 wins out of 10 games. So far, the champs have been cruising through the championship, but Altitude are going to play their hearts out to ruin their party.
At this moment, not even a loss will not knock Altitude out of second place. They have 17 points to San Pedro Pirates’ 14 and a better goal differential. Only a big loss to Verdes coupled with a blowout win for the Pirates over Garden City could possibly put them out. But a draw or win over Verdes would secure the subchampionship.
The San Pedro Pirates will be playing at Ambergris Stadium at the same time against Belmopan’s Garden City. Though mathematically it’s extremely difficult for them to surpass Altitude, nothing beats a try.
Garden City for their part, have secured the fourth spot with their nine points, but a win would make for a better record.
The final match of the season plays at the MCC Grounds at 3:00 pm in Belize City on Sunday. Caesar Ridge will host Wagiya. At this moment Wagiya are in fifth position with five points and Caesar Ridge are last with four. The home side need a win to get out of last place. Any other score favours Wagiya.
