The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) is looking for volunteers for the Uncaf U-19 Central American Football Championship which kicks off on Sunday, April 24, in Belmopan.

The FFB is following organizations like the International Olympic Committee and FIFA that use the services of volunteers for the Olympics and World Cup in looking for volunteers.

The FFB needs volunteers to work as parking attendants, ticket attendants, stadium stewards/chaperones, or stretcher/medic assistants to help the FFB with the running of the tournament at the FFB Stadium and the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.

National Team Manager Ian Jones said that the FFB needs some 40 volunteers, 20 for each stadium. The volunteers will be asked to help with the 2022 UNCAF Central American Under 19 Men’s Championship from April 24 to 30. Four games, two at the FFB Stadium and two at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, will be played on the four game days.

He said they already have ball boys through the Belmopan Football Association.

“As much as we’d want to welcome volunteers from all over the country, we are seeking more from the Belmopan and Cayo areas, possibly the Belize City area,” Jones said.

“We know that logistically it may be difficult for example for someone to come all the way from PG or Corozal to volunteer because it might be difficult for them because the games will finish at 9:00 pm. It would be difficult for most people to travel at that hour.”

Jones said that while the volunteers are helping out, the FFB will provide them with food, refreshments, and water.

He also said the FFB will also need volunteers for other competitions, so the FFB is trying to build a database of volunteers.

“The reason I decided to do an online application is that we’ll then have a database of volunteers. So, we can then contact them whenever we have any international games coming up and they will always be in our network of volunteers.”

Jones said several international tournaments are coming up.

“We have the Nations League, other youth tournaments, the Women’s Nations League coming up early next year.

Anyone interested in volunteering may get in touch with the FFB through this link.

“Joining the Volunteer Programme means something. Something memorable. It’s being able to say: “I made that happen.” It means being the spark for everyone, creating unforgettable experiences like no other. Amazing experiences that will last a lifetime for you, for fans,” says the FFB in its Recruitment Drive.

“More than a volunteer – you’re the heartbeat of our international games and tournaments!”

“The time for you to be amazing is now!”
