Mother of accused shooter is shot in Mahogany Heights

By Aaron Humes: In the last two weeks, there have been at least five shooting incidents and two fatalities in the neighboring villages of Mahogany Heights and La Democracia, Belize District.

The latest took place on Holy Saturday night at the home of the mother of the accused minor charged recently for the murder of Tyreek August. We will elect to not call her name in order to protect his identity.

The mother and her partner were inside their home, police say, after ten when a barrage of shots was fired and she was hit in the body. She is presently in treatment at the Western Regional Hospital.

Police are said to be considering a possible relation to the recent incidents in the villages.
