Hopkins roads made safer with the installation of new speedbumps from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing

Posted: Wednesday, April 20, 2022. 12:03 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: Hopkins Village, a major tourism destination for Belize is getting upgrades to the road infrastructure through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH).

The MIDH announced this week that the speed bumps were installed to increase safety in the village and were done so with input from the residents themselves.

“After consultation with residents and businesses in Hopkins, our MIDH team is in that community strategically placing speed bumps in busy areas. We believe in doing things properly and in a way which always promotes the safety of pedestrians and motorists without inconvenience to anyone,” the MIDH said.

The installation of the speedbumps was done in tandem with all the other world the MIDH is doing countrywide, which includes upgrading streets and roads in rural communities and the cayes, as well as ensuring that 150 families get new homes through its Modular Houses Pilot Project.
