Siblings arraigned in court for marijuana trafficking, sister takes charge, brother walks free

By BBN Staff: Two Belize city residents who are brother and sister were arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court for possession of marijuana and the sister owned up to the charge sparing her brother any further legal consequence.

Thirty-four-year-old Stacey Flowers appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court along with 33-year-old Derrick Flowers on April 14th charged with trafficking a total of 96 grams of marijuana found at their home during a police search.

When the officers asked if they had anything to declare, Stacey Flowers told the officers she was in possession of a bag of marijuana.

In court, she pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of possession simplitica, and was fined $650 plus the $5 cost of court. She has until July 29th to pay her fine or she will face three months in jail for defaulting.

Accepting her guilty plea the prosecution withdrew the charge from Derrick Flowers.
