By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Cyclists will accompany Edison Usher to Homeland Memorial Park at Mile 8 off the George Price Highway after the funeral service at Queen Street Baptist Church in Belize City on Thursday, April 21.

The Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) asked all cyclists, officials, and members of the executive committee to attend the funeral service.

“We ask that cyclists come in their jersey and bicycle as we would like to ride from Queen [Street] Baptist Church to Homeland at 8 Miles. Service begins at 10 am tomorrow Thursday 21st April 2022,” said the CFB.

Usher was very active in the sport of cycling. He wasn’t only a cyclist, he was a race organizer for the Weekend Warriors, a coach, and a live streamer/narrator for Cycling Federation of Belize. Additionally, Usher was also a DJ known as Vintage and a radio announcer.

He is going to be buried on his birthday.

Born on April 21, 1973, Usher was 11 days short of turning 49 when he passed away after a road accident on the George Price Highway on the morning of Sunday, April 10. He and his friend Kadeem Banks were travelling to San Ignacio on a motorcycle to live stream the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic when their motorcycle reportedly exploded. Banks died on the spot. Usher was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. He died a couple of hours later.
