Posted: Friday, April 22, 2022. 8:12 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Belize Tapir Project has issued a warning to slow down on the Burrell Boom Road for a hurting National Animal.

A tapir was seen on Thursday crossing the road in front of two vehicles.

The Project asked drivers to be aware of the animal’s presence, and if they see it to contact the project at 610-2483 or the Forest Department at 822-1524.

As noted by the project, tapirs are important to a healthy forest and a healthy Earth as key seed dispersers and in the process of forestation.
