By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs has issued its dismay at a television interview with a former diplomat criticizing the laying of charges against now-former Ambassador Alexis Rosado for rape, unlawful sexual assault, and indecent assault.
According to the Ministry, as the matter is before the Court and there is no statute of limitation on a crime such as this, the appearance of a fellow former Ambassador defending Rosado and suggesting that he faced being framed or a conspiracy is “completely incorrect” and “troubling.”
Those charges, the Ministry said further, amount to blaming the victim and displaying gender bias that the country is trying to break.
The press is reminded not to speculate and be ethical in its reporting and the Ministry announced that further training and sensitization are required and will be scheduled.
Rosado remains out on bail.
