The Central American Football Union (UNCAF) said on Friday that its referees and assistant referees are ready for the Under 19 Central American Football Championship which kicks off on Sunday in Belmopan.
UNCAF posted photographs of the referees and assistant referees doing a physical training session at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, one of the two venues to be used for the tournament. The other venue will be the FFB Stadium which is also located in Belmopan.
Referee Efren Guy from Corozal and assistant referee Juan Jose Colindres from Cayo are representing Belize.
All referees are referees in projection with the hope to reach FIFA in the near future.In total, 20 referees and assistant referees will be officiating the U19 Central American Championship.
“There are ten referees and ten assistant referees from the seven Central American countries, Mexico, and Cuba,” said the FFB’s Referee Director Eugene Contreras who is participating as a referee assessor for this tournament.
“All referees are referees in projection with the hope to reach FIFA in the near future.”
Contreras said there are four assessors. The others are from Nicaragua, Honduras, and Panama. The Panamanian assessor Roberto Moreno is an UNACF Technical Instructor and is the Head of Refereeing for the tournament.
