By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing has announced that in order to clear floodwaters from the under-construction Coastal Road, drains that had been “intentionally blocked in an effort to dewater the bridge construction site” are now temporarily opened and the waters have receded.
“Intense rainfall” on Friday caused delays in two areas along the highway where new bridges are being built: Quamina Bridge and Big Creek Bridge.
Construction works on the Coastal Highway are ongoing, with at least 12 months remaining under the contract. The Ministry requests that motorists exercise due care and attention when traversing the nearly 35 miles of highway as several locations remain under construction.
