Attorney General’s Ministry holding digital awareness campaign in honor of World Intellectual Property Day

By Benjamin Flowers: To mark the 2022 celebration of World Intellectual Property Day, the Belize Intellectual Property Office (BELIPO) under the auspices of the Attorney General’s Ministry, is hosting a digital awareness campaign, via Google Meet.

Those interested in attending the event, which is geared towards explaining how intellectual property rights work and how Belizeans can use these rights to generate income from their ideas, can find the link at BELIPO’s website. BELIPO is urging students from educational institutions at all levels to attend.

World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated annually on April 26 and the theme chosen for this year is IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future”.

BELIPO notes that the theme holds a special significance for Belize as the creativity and ingenuity of Belizean youths are evident in the country on a daily basis.

“We can see this at work right here in our country where the youths are reshaping the way forward with their creativity and ingenuity. They are putting their curiosity into action to reshape our country and the world for a better future. Over the past few years, we have heard of quite a few young and emerging entrepreneurs such as authors, musicians, songwriters, and those with new business ventures, right here in Belize,” BELIPO said.
