COVID-19 weekend update: 35 new cases, seven persons hospitalized

By Aaron Humes: Although not in the worrying numbers of a few months ago, the COVID-19 virus is still hanging around and infecting Belizeans – to the tune of 35 this past weekend.

Against 28 new recoveries, the number of active cases rose by seven to 135 with 96 samples under investigation by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

While no new deaths have been reported and no one is in intensive care with the virus, seven persons are hospitalized – six fully vaccinated and one partially vaccinated.

The new cases were reported in Belize City (seven); Placencia, Stann Creek District (six); four each in Santa Elena Town, Dangriga Town and San Pedro Town; two in San Ignacio Town, and from north to south, cases in Caledonia and San Roman, Corozal District; Tower Hill, Orange Walk District; Ladyville, Belize District; and Punta Gorda Town, Otoxha, Pueblo Viejo and San Miguel, Toledo District.
