By BBN Staff: A man tried running off to escape custody in the Southern Session of the Supreme Court this morning after he was convicted of murder.
Shane Bennett, who was on trial for the murder of Anthony Parks, got the news of his guilty verdict moments ago and ran out while the court was considering a date for his sentencing hearing. He was quickly apprehended by police.
Parks was shot in January 2020, and survived the shooting to tell police that it was Bennett who shot him. He also told police that he had a previous altercation with Bennett leading up to the incident.
Parks would later die of those gunshot injuries, and Bennett’s charges were upgraded from attempted murder to murder.
