Costa Rica, Guatemala play to 1-1 stalemate in UNCAF U-19 Football Championship

Costa Rica and Guatemala drew 1-1 in the second Group B game on Tuesday night in the UNCAF U19 FIFA FORWARD Central American Championship.

Doryan Rodríguez gave Costa Rica the lead in the 10’ at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.

It appeared the Costa Ricans were going to get away with the three points but a late effort by Guatemala’s Jefry Bantes paid off in the 89’ for the final 1-1 draw.

In the other Group B match, Panama and Puerto Rico played to a 3-3 draw earlier on Tuesday.

Guatemala lead Group B with four points. Panama, who drew 3-3 earlier with Puerto Rico, have two points and is currently tied with Costa Rica. Puerto Rico have one point.

Group action closes on Thursday when Costa Rica face Puerto Rico at 4:15 pm and Panama challenge Guatemala at 7:00 pm.
