Z-Boys, Santa Cruz win in Benque Viejo Football Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Z-Boys and Santa Cruz came out triumphant out of the weekend in the Benque Viejo Football Championship.

The Z-Boys downed Youths United 6-0. Jayden Lennan was unstoppable converting five of the Z-Boys half dozen in the 10’, 44’, 46’, 90’, and 90’+3. Nahjib Guerra struck the other goal in the 85th minute.

Leaders Santa Cruz won their third straight game as they defeated Benque Verdes Jrs 3-1. Allan Ponce scored the game opener in the 20th minute giving Verdes 1-0 jump. But their lead was short-lived as Henry Betancourt tied the ball game in the 40th minute. Hector Martinez then gave Santa Cruz the win with his 48th minute goal. Allan Quiñonez put the icing on the cake in the 86th minute for the final 3-1 Z-Boys victory.

According to Heraldo Ramcharan, Vice Chairman of the Benque Viejo Football Committee, Santa Cruz lead the tournament with nine points followed by the Z-Boys with seven. Succotz United have four points, Benque Verdes Jrs have three while Youths United are yet to register a point. All teams have played three games except Youths United who’ve played four games.
