COVID update: More recoveries than new cases, breaking recent trend

Posted: Wednesday, April 27, 2022. 8:47 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The post-Easter “wave” of COVID-19 cases appears to have fizzled out, at least today.

According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, just ten new cases were reported today compared to 22 recoveries, reducing the number of active cases to 126 with 102 samples under investigation.

The number of hospitalizations has risen to seven, with four fully vaccinated and three of uncertain status, and no new deaths were reported. The percentage of infected Belizeans considered fully recovered is back up to 98.5 percent.

Today’s new cases were reported in Belize City (four); Belmopan (two); Orange Walk Town; Lords’ Bank, Belize District; San Pedro Town; and in Santa Rosa, Stann Creek District.
